An identigram™ is a symbol that conveys its perceptual meaning through its resemblance to an experiential identity. The term was coined by Sarteri back in 2009 to define his artworks based on an abstract structuralist concept.
Identigrams are artworks by Lodovico Minelli Sarteri that come in the form of NFTs in the metaverse, jacquard tapestries and large-scale installations in the real world.
IDENTITY from Latin idem – identitatem “the same characteristics” or the qualities that make someone or something different from others + Greek GRÀMMA evolution of GRÀPH-MA letter, line, sign, scratch, mark, message.
Identities of sensorial experiences get encrypted as visual color codes, represented by a matrix of visual information that the Artist also defines “archicromie”. The creation of multi-sensory abstract color-codes narratives is capable of physically canalize energies, sound, scents, touch in the process of abstraction that reveals itself in awareness achievement. Each sensorial input in Minelli’s artworks is defined by permanence, tone, rhythm, emphasis and contrast. These visual structures instruct Sarteri’s distinctive multilevel language lined by encounters and variations.
The Artist then applies a sound to the color scheme, frequently sound is field-recorded on the place of the experience, sometimes it’s created through a sound design process.
Through a generative art coded program the color matrix and the sound inputs are animated generating unique color field paintings where gradients play with movement, tonal diffusion and dialogue with each other.
The final result of the fusion of all informational fields is an identigram™ that tells a unique sensory experience. It gets minted on the blockchain as NFT to be certified as exclusive valuable digital artwork. that tells a unique sensory experience.
